Annually, the geography of the countries from which international students come for studying at IFNTUOG becomes more diverse. Each year more and more international students come to the university, a significant number of whom will be qualified as professionals in oil and gas industry of their countries. The history of CIE began in 1991 when the first international students came to study at the Ivano-Frankivsk Institute of Oil ad Gas. These were four sitizens of India and soon another seven sitizens of Pakistan which became the students of the Preparatory Department.

Today the Center for International Education is an efficient university's unit which consists of four structural departments:

1. Department of Educational Support Services;

2. Department of Academic Services for International Students;

3. Department of Registration and Migration Services;

4. Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens.
